Sorry to keep some of you (that don't use facebook) in suspense for all this time! We are all doing well. Grandma has been living with us Sunday-Friday mornings since I started school and has been taking care of Aidan and Alexei. It seems to be going really well, and we are so thankful we have her!!

School is going good. 1.5 semesters down, 3.5 to go. It is flying! Hard work but also invigorating!

Mia is doing GREAT in school, and we could not be more proud of her!

Alexei also is doing great in school and really likes going!

They both started hockey on Sunday. They are both Termites and are having fun! But it definetely tires them out!

Aidan is so fun and precious! She is almost 7 months old. She sits up and makes fun squealy noises! Still no teeth. It is fun to just watch her. I could do it non-stop.

David had a good soccer season. We are going out to Seattle over Christmas to see his family. We are very excited-it has been too long! We are taking Amtrak out on Dec 18th and flying back on Dec 31st. So it will be a nice long visit.

It's official and on the record. After 3 months of keeping this to ourselves, we want everyone to know that I have been accepted into the accerleated nursing program at SDSU. I begin class on Aug 23rd. Since a normally 2-year program is condensed into 1 year, I will be attending class in SF 6 days a week, morning til night, for the next year and 3 days! We are very excited (and scared and nervous)! It will be a whirlwind to say the least, but it will be worth it in the end. Heck, the day I begin will be like the first day of my 368-day countdown!

That being said, it is also the end of my journey at Alltech. I have enjoyed my time here and have gained friends along the way. It will be very strange after nearly 6 years of working here to rather suddenly not.

I will continue my Arbonne business-fitting it in the nooks and crannies of our life. I am just a phone call away, but you may have to give me an extra day to respond. Please don't take it personally. :)

We will be undergoing lots of changes at the Kuhl house as we venture through this next year, and we will keep you updated as we go!

We are so happy to introduce you to Aidan Emily Kuhl

We went in last Thursday to be induced at 8am. By Friday at 5am with 2 doses of cervadil and no dilation at all, we had a c-section. With a lot of muscle, including vacuum suction (yes with the c-section), Aidan was born at 7:18am. She weighed 9lbs 9oz and was 20 1/2 inches long. Her head is 15" around! That must be where her weight is because her body is not chubby at all (she's just packin a lot of brains!)! She is a very sweet baby, and we are so happy to have her here!

We spent Thanksgiving at the Raml farm. For Mia's birthday we took her and some friends rollerskating in Sioux Falls. We spent Alexei's b-day in the cities (Ice skating at the Depot downtown, Holidazzle parade, swimming at the hotel), we were stuck at home for Christmas, but my mom and Zach (and Brittany :) ) came and spent a few days at our house which was fun. Alexei is playing termite hockey. David is working on the basement (family room) and I am doing good being an oven. The baby is very active and the pregnancy has been easy so far. We only have 12 weeks to go!

So, I got this idea from a friend who got the idea from another blog she follows. It is always so funny to read hers, so I thought I would give it a try (here goes nothing, val).

I most certainly did not hit snooze for over an hour on a kidless Monday morning when I meant to get up at regular time and get some exercise or bike to work. Never, I am too dedicated to my fitness for such nonsense.

I definitely didn't curse (holy sh##!!!) during a phone message to a friend (sorry Jaime) while driving to Lake Benton the other day because I thought I saw a group of like 7 huge bucks together in a field. And those bucks for sure did not turn out to be an uprooted tree. Not me!

I would never try to "speak whale" nemo-style to my husband for more than 5 minutes, and I definitely would not laugh at myself so hard that I cried because of it. I wish I could speak whale!

Spencer, IA Trip

We went to Spencer, IA last weekend for a soccer tournament. It was a nice time, and David's team took 1st place! We stopped in Okoboji on the way home. We need to plan a trip there because the kids really liked the beach :)

Mia and I went to Oakes on Thursday when the little guy was only 4 days old. Mia and I took turns holding him the entire time we were there (Danielle got to hold him when he was hungry, but I don't think grandma held him at all while we were there. Sorry Pam!) He is soooo sweet and we miss him already (Mia told me that about 30 minutes after we left their house).

Mom and Dad's Getaway Day

David and I went to the Cities this past weekend. We had a really nice time. We enjoyed great food (no kidding, it was so good! We ate dinner at Brit's and breakfast at The News Room , both are downtown on Nicholette), relaxing walks and conversations, a great Vikes game, nice drives, and GREAT weather (it was 65 degrees!). Here are a couple shots.

All's well with us.

David is done with soccer for a while. This is good for the calendar, but I know he misses it during the winter-especially now that we won't be following hockey as much. His work is still unsatisfying, but hoping for a new position. They are changing to 4-10's, so no more Fridays. However, that does mean longer days, earlier alarms, longer stays at daycare, and no ride home from school for Mia. But hey, the out-of-towners save gas money, so... On the bright side, I am sure he will like having Fridays off.

Mia started cheerleading yesterday. She loved it!! She is kind of a shy girl, so it is nice that they instructors really helped her feel more at ease. She will have that every Tuesday for a month, then we will see if she wants to keep going. I would like to get her some piano lessons now that we have a piano. We'll see. She still likes school of course. She is going to be a princess for Halloween.

Alexei is doing good. He is very active-loves playing hockey in the living room and playing with Mia. He also loves movies still. He really likes his friends (kids from Daycare, the neighbor kids and Mia's friend Bella). He loves to give kisses and have cuddle time. He is going to be a wizard for Halloween (his first ideas were witch or princess).

I am doing really good. My Arbonne business is really taking off and I am excited for that! David and I are going to the Cities next weekend for a night away and a Vikes game. We are staying downtown and hoping to have a romantic night out. We'll see if we can keep from falling asleep first. :) We ran in the Hobo Day 5K and he beat me by 3 minutes. We are runnig in the Halloween 5K this weekend, so we'll see if I can narrow the gap :) Wish me luck.

Last Wednesday, David and I decided to take the day off, and we took the kids to Sioux Falls. It was a beautiful day, and we had sooooo much fun. First, we went and had burgers and fries, then we went to the zoo, followed by ice cream, and ended at the park. The weather was GREAT (right about 70 degrees with a light breeze). Awesome!! The zoo was a blast! Mia's favorite was the Zebra, Alexei's was the giraffe, and David and I liked the monkeys best! Here are a couple pics.

P.S. 2 days later, we got about 8" of snow and the interstate was closed south of Brookings all the way to North Dakota!

I am finally updating our blog! Everyone is doing pretty good.

Alexei is actually battling a very bad cough. Last time he had these symptoms (horrible cough and lots of booggies) he had an ear infection. But at the doctor yesterday they said he does not have an ear infection this time and maybe it is allergies. So we went to the store and got some Zyrtec and crossed our fingers. As of right now it has not helped at all. He was up from 11:30 to 1:00am last night-coughing continuously (when I say continuously I mean it)-before he finally fell back to sleep. This morning, he woke a 5:30 with the same problem-continuous coughing, even when I dropped him off at childcare at 7:45. It is ridiculous and I feel so bad for him! Urgh. Besides his illness, he is awesome! He loves talking and talking and talking. I am amazed daily by his new vocab. Yesterday we had him saying "okee dokee artichokee" is was so cute!

Mia is doing great! She loves preschool and has many little friends. She is also exstatic that spring is here-she wore flip-flops on Tuesday at school. I know I know-what can I say. You really cannot say no to a 4-yr-old that is that excited about the weather. Nonetheless, she was running at recess and tripped on her flip-flops and skinned her knee. It looks pretty good though already. She loves cutting paper and playing with her little friends Bella and Eva.

David is heading full-swing into soccer. Due ot last week's weather, their first practice is tonight, and the first games are this weekend here in Brookings (Sat 9 and 3, Sun 2 and 5 I think). So from now until the end of July, we have 4 free weekends. But it is awesome for him and it is something that we can do as a family. The kids love being out at the fields-playing, running around, and kicking balls. He is also doing some new things at work and seems to like the new responsibilities.

They had a lot of fun this year! We hit a few specific houses, then decided to hit the less frequented neighborhoods and our own. They got a ton of candy. Alexei really liked to roar and help people shut the door. Mia had fun saying "trick or treat" and acting bashful!

Mia started preschool this fall and loves it! She can write her name now! She loves to help her teacher and sing songs and do art projects! Alexei is talking a lot now. Some of his favorite words are "yeah", "snack", "baby", and "more"! David is coaching JV soccer and loves it of course, he even made the front page of the register (one of his players is a foreign exchange student, and they did an article on that program, but the picture was of 2 players and David at practice). Pretty cool, I know I have never been on the front page! I am still pretty boring-not much to write about. Things are good, and I love the fall season-football, Hobo Day, and cool breezes!

We have been having a great summer! Lots of time outside and at the pool. Mia took swimming lessons this month and really loved it! Her favorite things were "swim dives", holding her breath under water, and jumping off the diving board!

Alexei loves being outside and playing with neighbor kids (Mia loves that too). He has had to go to an every-night bath schedule because he plays so hard and gets so dirty, especially in the sand box! He also LOVES ice cream and popsicles :)

David finished his U14 club soccer season this past weekend with a home tournament. So he has about two weeks of no soccer before high school season starts up! He keeps busy let me tell you. He has also been breaking his back in our yard. He has been moving tons and tons of rock and sand (I think it totals around 6 tons so far), and he has been sawing down dead and overhanging limbs from our trees! The yard is really looking great thanks to him. He also put together another sand box for the kids.

I have been doing the usual. After work, I come home and try to spend time with the kids before they go to bed, and then I hang out with David for an hour or two,and then we go to bed. Repeat. I did get to take Mia to her swimming lessons, so that was some really nice mommy-and-Mia time! Mia and I also got season passes to the new aquatic center in town, so we have been there quite a few times. I had my 12-year class reunion a couple of weeks ago, and it turned out to be a really fun time! It was really great to see people that I hadn't seen in so long! Also this month, Donna and I took my mom on a "birthday celebration". We went shopping in downtown Sioux Falls and had lunch at Kaladi's before heading to Penny's for on of their "once-a-year" sales. We had a really nice time.

David and I are also playing co-ed sand volleybal and co-ed softball, so that takes up Tuesday and Thursday evenings! Both are really fun, but it will be nice to not have so many committments after the summer is over.

Our trip to Seattle - Part 1

We had a really great time on our trip to visit David's family! Mia and Kaytlyn (Barb and Curtis's 5-yr-old) were fast friends, and Alexei amazed everyone with his love of salsa and his impeccable lamb immitation! David and Jon got to spend some "quality time" golfing, and Barb and the kids got to spend a lot of time with us too! It was a lot of fun for everyone. The kids really loved their WA family, and we have got to try to make it back there way more often. Kody and Konnor are such little gentlemen, and uncle Curtis is so good with the kids-they really like him. Mia told us yesterday that her "Auntie Barb" is at papa's house in Seattle. Grandma took us all to an awesome wildlife park called Northwest Trek where we got to see many native animals in their natural habitats. Way cool! We also got together with our friend Heather, and it was so great to catch up with her! Here are a few pics, but I still have one roll to develop.

We went to the mall in Sioux Falls on Saturday after the soccer game. Laura, Donna, great grandma, and grandma were with us. We had a nice time hanging out and having lunch. Mia also went and spent the night in Dell Rapids and had a really fun time (even if she was taken down by a cousin!) Just kidding, Laura. Here are a few snapshots from the mall. I sent out the email to check out or blog. Then I had a discussion with someone who had had some concerns about privacy when using blogs that just anyone can see. The person told me how I could make it visible only to the people I invite. So I changed our blog settings so that anyone wanting to see it would have to sign in. I know this can be a pain, so for now I changed it back. It is visible to anyone, but we may change this at a later date.
